The Italian, ranked 44th in the ATP, after defeating Novak Djokovic in the second round, repeated his performance by beating Bosnia's Damir Dzumhur, ranked 63rd, in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. The match was interrupted due to a blackout that affected Spain, forcing organizers to temporarily halt the tournament.
