USA: data collected without consent, Google to pay $1.4 billion to Texas

Washington, May 10 (LaPresse) – Google will pay $1.4 billion to Texas to settle allegations that the company collected user data without consent. The state’s Attorney General announced this on Friday. In 2022, Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against Google, claiming that the tech giant had collected millions of biometric identifiers, including voice prints and facial geometry recordings, through its products and services such as Google Photos, Google Assistant, and Nest Hub Max.
