Napoli Scudetto: team celebrates on Mergellina waterfront with bus parade, boat sirens sound

Naples, May 26 (LaPresse) – Players and officials of Napoli arrived by hydrofoil at Luise pier in Mergellina, from where they will travel on two buses along the Caracciolo seafront — the highlight of the celebrations for the club’s fourth Serie A title. Their arrival was greeted by the sounding of boat sirens from vessels docked at the Mergellina port.

The two buses will drive along the waterfront to Piazza Vittoria before turning around and returning, for a total route of approximately 2.5 km. The seafront is packed, with around 150,000 people expected to join the festivities and cheer for coach Antonio Conte and the players, who secured the club’s fourth title on Friday evening with a win over Cagliari on the final matchday.

Among the most awaited figures are captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay — Serie A’s MVP and scorer of the stunning opening goal against Cagliari — as well as club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, who now shares two Scudetti as president like Corrado Ferlaino did during the Maradona era. An extensive traffic control system is in place, with roads near the seafront and the Riviera di Chiaia closed since 9 a.m.
