Rome, 28 June (LaPresse) – ‘The activation of the clause leaves Jorge free to sign with anyone he wants for 2026.’ This was stated by Albert Valera, manager of Aprilia rider Jorge Martin, to Motorsport.com in the paddock at the Assen circuit, after the Dutch Grand Prix. According to the manager, the world champion is free to sign with any team for the 2026 season, despite Aprilia's statements to the contrary. ‘Honda is an alternative, of course,’ said Valera, echoing comments made a few days ago at Silverstone by Alberto Puig, HRC team manager: ‘All the teams in the paddock would be interested in a rider like Martín. If a team isn't interested in Martín, it's because they're idiots.’ The Spanish rider is still recovering from injuries sustained in an accident at the Qatar Grand Prix (the only event he has taken part in so far), but his return date is close. Everything will depend on the medical tests he will undergo next week, which should determine whether ‘Martinator’ will return to racing at the Sachsenring, the next stop on the calendar, or at Brno.
