The Nerazzurri exit the competition after a disappointing match against Fluminense, attempting to recover from the 1-0 deficit they conceded early on but ultimately losing 2-0. The Brazilians took the lead in the 6th minute with a header from German Cano. In the 40th minute, Thiago Silva's potential equaliser was disallowed by referee Barton after consulting VAR. Inter woke up after the 80th minute and came close to equalising twice through Lautaro Martinez. In the 93rd minute, a diagonal shot by Hercules made it 2-0 for Renato Portaluppi's men, who will face the winner of the match between Pep Guardiola's Manchester City and Simone Inzaghi's Al Hilal in the quarter-finals.
