Milan, 2 July (LaPresse) – Cremonese, newly promoted to Serie A, announces that it has appointed Davide Nicola as coach of the first team. The coach will remain with the Grigiorossi until 30 June 2027.After a long career as a footballer, Nicola, born in Turin in 1973, made his coaching debut on 14 July 2010, leading Lumezzane for two seasons in Lega Pro before moving to Livorno, with whom he won the Serie B playoffs in 2012 and secured promotion to the top flight. After spells with the Amaranto and Bari, he moved to newly promoted Crotone in the 2016-17 season and secured the Calabrian side's first-ever survival in Serie A. He achieved this feat several times in the following years on the benches of Genoa (2019-20), Torino (2020-21), Salernitana (2021-22), Empoli (2023-24) and Cagliari (2024-25).A coach who stands out for the well-defined playing identity of his teams, as well as his great motivational skills and undisputed human qualities, he is the ideal profile to lead the Grigiorossi with experience and competence in the demanding Serie A championship. ‘The owners and the club welcome the new coach and wish him all the best,’ reads the statement from the Grigiorossi club.
