Turin, 12 July. (LaPresse) – Following the “Doppia curva” investigation, which revealed links between organised crime and football fans, Inter and Milan are taking a hard line: hundreds of renewal requests from ultras deemed “unwelcome” have been rejected (those affected have been banned from stadiums in the past, but have also been reported or sanctioned administratively for misconduct or participation in violent incidents). The measures, agreed with the public prosecutor's office, the police and the Interior Ministry, include a ban on the sale of season tickets in the curves and the introduction of a surcharge for name changes in other sectors. In the curves, there will be no more “Curva Nord” and “Curva Sud” banners or signs. Facial recognition cameras are also coming to the Meazza stadium at the turnstiles: the system is ready and awaiting the green light from the privacy authority. The new rules aim to break all ties with the past and prevent the rebirth of the mafia system uncovered by the investigations.
