Rome, 18 July (LaPresse) – Gregorio Paltrinieri won the silver medal in the 5 km open water event at the World Championships in Singapore, after winning silver two days ago in the 10 km event. The Italian competed with a small fracture to the third phalanx of his left ring finger and finished in 57'29‘30, 2’90 behind Germany's Florian Wellbrock (57'26‘40). Bronze went to France's Marc Antoine Olivier (57'30’40). Ginevra Taddeucci also won silver in the 5-kilometre open water event, after her silver in the 10-kilometre event. The Italian finished in 1h02'02‘30, second behind Australia's Moesha Johnson (1h02'01’30). Third place went to Japan's Ichika Kajimoto (1h02'28"90).
