Rome, 20 July (LaPresse) – The curtain falls in Anadia and Italy leaves the Portuguese velodrome with a full suitcase: 22 medals won in six days of competition, including 9 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze. A haul that is worth second place in the medal table at the European Junior and Under-23 Track Championships. This is a high-profile result, equalling the total number of medals won in Cottbus in 2024 (also 20 medals), but with a clear leap in quality: nine golds compared to last year's seven, confirming the continued growth of the Italian movement. The Italian medal haul on the final day was completed by the women's junior Madison, with the Italian pair finishing in second place with 27 points. Only Belgium did better (32), while Germany – equal to Italy in points – had to settle for third place on the podium. The men's event also brought silver to Italy thanks to Julian Bortolami and Riccardo Colombo. The Italian pair finished the junior Madison behind Belgium's Thor Michielsen and Witse Bertsel who, despite a fall, deservedly won the title. Completing the podium, with the same score as the Italians (27), were Germany's Hugo Esch and Attila Hofig.
