Germany, Leipzig fans boo Antwi-Adjei after allegations of racist abuse

Rome, August 18 (LaPresse) – Schalke midfielder Christopher Antwi-Adjei was booed by Lokomotive Leipzig fans after complaining about racist insults during the German Cup match. The German-born Ghanaian player stopped the game at the 13th minute while taking a throw-in and spoke with a referee official on the sideline. Referee Max Burda talked with both team captains during the three-minute interruption. The stadium announcer urged fans to avoid racist or discriminatory language. However, Antwi-Adjei was booed every time he touched the ball. Meanwhile, near Berlin in Potsdam, a Kaiserslautern substitute was racially abused by an unknown individual during halftime warm-ups in a match against RSV Eintracht Stahnsdorf.
