Europa League: violent clashes in Nice, 102 Roma fans arrested

Milan, Sept. 24 (LaPresse) – A turbulent Tuesday evening unfolded in downtown Nice, where clashes involving Roma supporters occurred on the eve of the Europa League match between the Italian club and the French team. According to L'Équipe, 102 individuals "in possession of weapons" were arrested and taken into custody, citing sources from the Alpes-Maritimes police. The incidents reportedly took place in the central Place Masséna, in the heart of the Côte d’Azur city. According to a witness quoted by Nice-Matin, the brawl began when several fans sitting on a restaurant terrace started throwing glasses at the police, triggering a chase through the streets of Old Nice. Some of those detained were wearing balaclavas to avoid being identified.
