Madrid, Oct. 22 (LaPresse) – On the third matchday of the Champions League group stage, Real Madrid defeated Juventus 1–0 at the Santiago Bernabéu.
It was a good match from the Bianconeri, who tried to put their opponents under pressure right from the opening minutes.
In the 7th minute, Kalulu made a run down the right and sent in a low cross for Vlahovic, but Asensio intercepted before he could shoot. In the 26th minute, Real created danger with Tchouaméni, who struck almost from point-blank range, but Kalulu managed a crucial deflection.
At the end of the first half, Mbappé produced a brilliant move down the right, dribbling past two defenders and setting up Militão, whose shot from the edge of the box went just over the bar.
The second half opened with a huge chance for Juventus: Vlahovic outran the Real defence over 50 metres, went one-on-one with Courtois and tried to beat him with a diagonal shot, but the Belgian goalkeeper produced a stunning save.
Seven minutes later came the breakthrough for the Blancos: a brilliant play by Vinicius, who hit the post when one-on-one with Di Gregorio. On the rebound, Bellingham pounced to score the 1–0 goal.
Juventus remain on two points, while Real move up to nine.
