Betting scandal in Turkey, 102 players disqualified

Istanbul (Turkey), 13 November (LaPresse/AP) – The Turkish Football Federation has temporarily banned 102 players for the betting scandal that is rocking Anatolian football. Those involved had been referred to the federation's disciplinary committee as part of the betting investigation. The suspensions range from 45 days to one year. Among others, Eren Elmali, a player for Galatasaray and the Turkish national team, has been suspended for 45 days. His teammate and central defender for the Turkish Under-21 national team, Metehan Baltaci, has been suspended for nine months.
