Football, Abodi: ‘FIGC elections? Without unity, the defeat in Bosnia will be meaningless’

Rome, 14 Apr. (LaPresse) – "I am fascinated by the tasks ahead. I am concerned that they were not even carried out with 98.7% support. This shows that it is not the level of support that determines outcomes, but the quality of collaboration between the various stakeholders.” So said Andrea Abodi, Minister for Sport, on the sidelines of the Forum on the social, educational and economic value of sport in Italy at Luiss University in Rome, regarding the crisis in the football system and the measures to be taken to revive it. “I am also listening to what the other stakeholders have to say, not just in terms of appointing people but in defining programmes and their compatibility, because everyone has a good programme. It’s a pity that we are in a system where, if individual interests do not align with the collective ones, the things that need to happen simply don’t,” he continued, referring to the candidacies ahead of the election of the federal president on 22 May. “The painful experience of the conflict with Bosnia risks being completely meaningless, because the point of defeat is to solve problems. The public expects the minister to do everything, but the minister has rules he must respect and wishes to respect, including in terms of autonomy,” Abodi continued.
