Rome, 20 Apr. (LaPresse) – It’s NBA playoff time, and the four remaining Game 1 fixtures have now been played. At Boston’s TD Garden, the Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers – who were without Joel Embiid – 123–91, dominating from start to finish. Jayson Tatum scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown added 26. For the visitors, Tyrese Maxey scored 21 points. It was smooth sailing for OKC too, who dominated Game 1 against the Phoenix Suns with a score of 119-84. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 25 points, with Jalen Williams adding 22. Devin Booker scored 23 for the Suns. Over the weekend, Orlando secured the only away win of the weekend, 112-101, beating Detroit with a starting five all scoring in double figures. The Pistons suffered their eleventh consecutive home defeat in the playoffs (they haven’t won in front of their own fans since as far back as 2008). San Antonio made no mistake in Game 1 against Portland. Led by Victor Wembanyama’s 35 points on his playoff debut, they took a 1-0 lead with a convincing 111-98 win. For the Blazers, Deni Avdija recorded a double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds.
