Rocchi case: Inzaghi says, ‘I'm shocked by the investigation into the referees; Inter have been penalised’

Turin, 30 April (LaPresse) – The investigation into referees “shocked me: Inter lost a lot of points last season due to refereeing errors. The league, the Super Cup… It’s surprising to be dragged into a story in which we were penalised rather than favoured”. So said former Inter manager Simone Inzaghi in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. “How can anyone think of a conspiracy?” continued the current Al Hilal manager. “For us, it was a disastrous season. I’ve always had great respect for the referees’ work and I don’t want to talk about Napoli, who won the Scudetto fairly. But the feeling remains that something has been taken away from us. I’m not accusing anyone and I don’t doubt anyone’s good faith. Let’s just say we weren’t lucky; everything went against us, even if we are partly to blame. There remains a sense of disappointment that won’t go away: losing the Scudetto by a single point is painful.”
