Giro d’Italia, Silva wins second stage and becomes new pink jersey

Turin, May 9 (LaPresse) – Guillermo Thomas Silva won the second stage of the Giro d'Italia, the hilly 221 km leg in Bulgaria from Burgas to Veliko Tarnovo, and is the new race leader. The rider of XDS Astana Team beat German Florian Stork (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) and Giulio Ciccone (Lidl–Trek) in a reduced bunch sprint. It is the first time a Uruguayan rider has won a stage at the Giro and worn the pink jersey.
