The Azzurri, who won in Rotterdam and Madrid this season, overcame their traditional rivals, Finland's Harri Heliovaara and England's Henry Patten, the top seeds of the tournament with a score of 7-5 7-6 (4) in one hour and 48'. It was the fourth time they had faced each other this season, in the semi-finals in Adelaide and Doha and in the 1000 final in Florida.
