Manchester (UK), 22 May (LaPresse/AP) – It is now official: Pep Guardiola is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season after ten years. The Spanish manager, who still had a year left on his contract with the English club, will take charge of the Citizens for the last time on Sunday in the match against Aston Villa that will bring the Premier League season to a close, a campaign in which Arsenal finished ahead of City. ‘Nothing lasts forever; if it did, I’d still be here. What will last forever, however, are the feelings, the people, the memories and the love I have for my Manchester City,’ said Pep Guardiola in his farewell message to the club, where he has spent the last ten years of his career. ‘Don’t ask me why I’m leaving,’ continued the Spanish manager. ‘There’s no specific reason, but deep down I know my time has come.’ Guardiola will take on the role of ‘global ambassador’ for the Citizens.
