Milan, 15 June (LaPresse) – Ruben Amorim is set to become Milan’s new manager. The Portuguese coach has reached an agreement with the Rossoneri, signing a two-year contract (until 2028) with an option for a third year. This is reported on its website by the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, according to which Amorim had planned not to take the helm this season after leaving Manchester United in January, but the offer from the Italian club – which he has admitted is one of his favourite teams from his childhood and which he dreamed of managing – proved too tempting. In Milan, the former Sporting Lisbon manager will receive €3.5 million net per season, plus bonuses for winning the league title and qualifying for the Champions League, a competition the Rossoneri have missed out on for the past two seasons. Ruben Amorim, 41, is just awaiting final approval from Red Bird’s Gerry Cardinale, owner of Milan, to travel to Italy, sign the contract and settle into his new city. Amorim is said to have pipped Matthias Jaissle at the post, the Asian champion with Al Ahli, another name that had long been on the table among the Rossoneri’s directors.
