Rome, Jan. 24 (LaPresse) – Rania Dagash-Kamara, deputy executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), told Al Jazeera that the ‘long overdue’ ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave has allowed aid workers to increase aid deliveries needed by the population, mostly ‘without incident’. Since the ceasefire began, ‘we have managed to get 4,800 trucks in. This is for the entire humanitarian community,' he added. ‘What we need, however, is for the border crossings to remain open, reliably, and for our personnel to be able to move freely and safely through the Gaza Strip to reach the 2 million people in need,’ he added.
