Middle East, Trump envoy: ‘Gaza uninhabitable, will take 15 years to rebuild’

Washington (USA), 30 Jan (LaPresse) – It will take 10 to 15 years to rebuild Gaza. Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, said this in an interview with Axios at the end of his mission to the Middle East. ‘The thing you can't escape from is that there is almost nothing left of Gaza,’ Witkoff said. ‘People are moving north to go back to their homes and see what happened, then they turn around and leave – there is no water or electricity. It is unbelievable how much damage has been done there,’ Witkoff said again. Witkoff explained that he had not discussed with Trump the idea of moving Palestinians out of Gaza. But from what he was able to verify during his visit to the Strip, Gaza is ‘uninhabitable’. ‘There is nothing left standing. Many unexploded ordnance. It is not safe to walk there. It is very dangerous,’ the US president's envoy said in the interview.
