Brussels, February 13 (LaPresse) – "NATO is a great alliance, the most successful defense alliance in history, but for it to last into the future, our partners must do much more for Europe's defense. We must make NATO great again."
This was stated by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth during a press conference following the NATO Defense Ministerial meeting in Brussels.
"We need an increase in defense spending. The 2% target is just a start, as President Trump has said, but it is not enough. Neither 3% nor 4%—it should be closer to 5%, a real investment for a real urgency. We can talk about values as much as we want. Values are important, but you can't shoot with values. You can't fire at enemies with flags, and you can't shoot strong speeches. There is no substitute for hard power," Hegseth explained.
