Brussels, 6 May (LaPresse) – The upcoming proposals will improve the transparency, monitoring and traceability of Russian gas in EU markets. Essentially, new contracts with Russian gas suppliers (pipelines and LNG) will be prevented and existing spot contracts will be suspended by the end of 2025. This measure will ensure that by the end of this year, the EU will have reduced its remaining Russian gas supplies by one third. The Commission will also propose to block all remaining Russian gas imports by the end of 2027. This is set out in the roadmap for the elimination of imports from Russian energy sources just presented by the European Commission.
