Newcastle (Australia), 9 June (LaPresse/AP) – Australian television journalist Lauren Tomasi was hit in the leg by a rubber bullet on Sunday while reporting live from downtown Los Angeles, California, on mass protests against US President Donald Trump's immigration policy and the subsequent deployment of the National Guard in the city. Video of the incident, released by 9News, shows the correspondent with a microphone in her hand, broadcasting live, and then an officer behind her suddenly raising his weapon and firing a rubber bullet at close range. Tomasi, who does not appear to be wearing any personal protective equipment, screams in pain and grabs her leg as she and her cameraman quickly move away from the police. ‘You just shot the reporter,’ a voice can be heard shouting off-camera. Tomasi reassured her crew that she was okay: ‘Yes, I'm okay, I'm okay.’
