Brussels, 20 June (LaPresse) – ‘Today we are here to reaffirm Europe's strong commitment to partnership with Africa. And I would like to thank Italy for putting cooperation with Africa at the centre of our action.’ This was stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen speaking at the summit ‘The Mattei Plan for Africa and Global Gateway: a joint effort with the African continent’ with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome. "The Mattei Plan is a perfect example of how we are shaping the Global Gateway together. Global Gateway is a €300 billion investment programme of the European Union, of which €150 billion is earmarked for Africa. This is Team Europe at work, and it is the teamwork with Africa that we are demonstrating today,‘ she emphasised. ’And I want to thank our African partners for being here today, because we share a common vision," she added.
