Belgrade (Serbia), June 29 (LaPresse) – Tens of thousands of demonstrators opposed to Serbian populist President Aleksandar Vucic gathered this evening in Belgrade to demand early parliamentary elections and called on Vucic to support this demand and declare the current government illegitimate. Police fired tear gas at the protesters.
The demonstration was organized by university students, the driving force behind the anti-corruption protests that have spread across the country following the collapse of the Novi Sad railway station roof on November 1st, an incident in which 16 people died.
