Washington (USA), July 3 (LaPresse) – The House is at a standstill as Republican leadership continues to pressure party members who oppose the final approval of Donald Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill.’ A five-minute procedural vote remained open for over an hour, and party leaders told members they could leave the chamber. A previous procedural vote had also stayed open for an hour, blocking the House from voting on a provision of the massive tax and spending bill that contains all of the White House’s domestic policy priorities. Republican Speaker Mike Johnson and Trump himself spent much of Wednesday trying to convince the ultra-conservative ‘Freedom Caucus’ members in the House who threaten to block the bill and the floor proceedings. According to Maryland Congressman Andy Harris, chairman of the Freedom Caucus, Johnson does not have the votes needed to move the bill forward.
