Iran, 1,060 dead in war with Israel

Dubai (United Arab Emirates), 8 July. (LaPresse/AP) – The Iranian government has released a new death toll from the 12-day war with Israel, reporting that at least 1,060 people have been killed and warning that the number could rise to 1,100 given the severity of the injuries sustained by some. Saeed Ohadi, head of the Iranian Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation, provided the figure in an interview broadcast on Iranian state television on Monday evening. The Washington-based Human Rights Activists group, which has previously provided detailed figures on the victims of the numerous waves of protests in Iran, said the death toll from the war stood at 1,190, including 436 civilians and 435 members of the security forces, with 4,475 wounded.
