Damascus (Syria), 14 July (LaPresse/AP) – According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based war monitoring group, at least 50 people have been killed in clashes between Druze militias and Bedouin clans in the southern Syrian province of Sweida. Among the victims are two children and six members of the security forces. Syrian Interior Ministry spokesman Noureddine al-Baba told state television Al-Ikhbariya that government forces entered Sweida in the early hours of the morning to restore order. ‘There have been some clashes with outlawed armed groups, but our forces are doing their best to avoid civilian casualties,’ he said.
