Rome, 20 July (LaPresse) – ‘We are literally in a cage, like chickens.’ This is what Gaetano Mirabella Costa, an Italian detained in the Alligator Alcatraz migrant centre in Florida, said in a telephone interview with Tg2. "There are 32 of us in each cage, the toilets are open, everyone can see you. I haven't even had the chance to speak to a lawyer or a judge,‘ he added, asking the Italian authorities ’to get us out of this nightmare.‘ ’They brought him in with chains on his feet and hands, like a dog," his mother, Rosanna Mirabella Costa, told Tg2.
