Bangladesh: death toll rises to 31 in jet crash on school, 25 students

Dhaka (Bangladesh), 22 July (LaPresse/AP) – The death toll in Bangladesh has risen to 31 in the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force training jet, which crashed yesterday on a school campus in Dhaka. Among the dead are 25 students, the pilot and a teacher who died saving more than 20 students from the burning school and then succumbed to her severe burns. The Chinese-made F-7 BGI aircraft crashed on the campus of Milestone School and College in the Uttara district while students were attending classes shortly after take-off at 1:06 p.m. local time, according to the army. Bangladesh, in shock after the accident, is observing a day of national mourning today, with flags at half-mast across the country.
