USA, Epstein case: Johnson anticipates summer closure of House

Washington (USA), 22 July (LaPresse) – The Republican leadership is finding it increasingly difficult to contain pressure from part of its own parliamentary group in the House of Representatives and from the Democrats, who are calling for the declassification of documents relating to the paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. Speaker Mike Johnson has announced the early closure of the House to prevent a vote on the issue. Before the summer recess, which begins at the end of the week, parliamentary committees will continue to work, but after tomorrow there will be no more votes in the chamber, which were supposed to end on Thursday.
