USA, 11 stabbed in Michigan supermarket

Traverse City (Michigan, USA), July 27 (LaPresse) – Michigan authorities report that 11 people were stabbed at a Walmart in Traverse City. Authorities say a suspect is in custody and investigators believe the victims were not specifically targeted.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office states that a 42-year-old man entered the supermarket and stabbed 11 people with a folding knife. An officer arrived on the scene within minutes and arrested the man.

The sheriff’s office also added that bystanders in the store helped to capture the suspect and assist the victims. Munson Healthcare announced via social media that the victims were hospitalized at the largest hospital in the region, in northern Michigan.

Spokesperson Megan Brown said all the victims were stabbed. Six people were in critical condition and five in serious condition late Saturday evening, she added.
