Washington (United States), Aug 2 (LaPresse) – Seventeen U.S. states have filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration, accusing it of attempting to intimidate hospitals into abandoning gender-affirming healthcare for transgender youth. The lawsuit was filed in the Boston District Court by the attorneys general of 15 states and the District of Columbia, along with the governor of Pennsylvania. The Democratic state representatives argue that "Trump’s policies are an attempt to impose a nationwide ban on treatment for minors under 19, which is illegal as no federal law prohibits providing care to minors." In a statement, New York State Attorney General Letitia James said that "the federal government is conducting a cruel and targeted campaign of harassment against providers who offer legal and life-saving care to children."
