Gaza, former senior Israeli security officials call for end to war

Tel Aviv, Aug 4 (LaPresse) – More than a dozen former senior Israeli security officials have released a joint video calling for an end to the war in Gaza, arguing that Israel has suffered more losses than victories and that the fighting has dragged on for political reasons rather than strategic military decisions. The Times of Israel reports. Among the 19 former IDF chiefs of staff, intelligence heads, Shin Bet and Mossad directors, and police commissioners are also former IDF chief of staff and prime minister Ehud Barak, former chiefs of staff Moshe Ya'alon and Dan Halutz, and former Shin Bet director Yoram Cohen. "Each of these individuals took part in cabinet meetings, operated within inner circles, and witnessed all the most sensitive decision-making processes," says a voice-over at the start of the video by way of introduction. "Together, they have more than a thousand years of experience in national security and diplomacy."
