Tariffs, EU suspends countermeasures to US duties

Brussels, August 5 (LaPresse) – “I can confirm that the Commission has today taken the necessary legal steps to suspend the implementation of our EU countermeasures, which were set to take effect on August 7. This is being done through an emergency procedure,” said Olof Gill, the European Commission’s spokesperson for Trade, during the daily press briefing. “So, essentially, this means that the Commission adopts the decision, which should already be published in the Official Journal today,” he added. “Then, within two weeks, our Member States will give their approval by simple majority.”
