Middle East, Netanyahu: “We want to take control of the Gaza Strip but not govern it”

Turin, Aug. 7 (LaPresse) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel intends to take control of the entire Strip, but does not want to govern it. “We intend to take control to ensure our security, remove Hamas, allow the population to free themselves from Gaza, and entrust it to a civilian government that is not Hamas and is not someone who advocates the destruction of Israel,” he said in an interview with FoxNews. “We want to have a security perimeter. We don't want to govern it,” he explained. “We want to hand over” the Strip “to Arab forces that will govern it properly, without threatening us, and give the citizens of Gaza a dignified life,” he added.
