Turin, August 18 (LaPresse) – During the summit in Alaska, Russian President Vladimir Putin made maximalist demands regarding the five disputed regions of Ukraine, including Donetsk, where Russia currently controls about 75% of the territory. At one point, the Kremlin leader appeared so inflexible on his demand that U.S. President Donald Trump was ready to walk out. This was reported to Axios by a source.
“If Donetsk is the key issue and there’s no room for negotiation, then we simply shouldn’t prolong this situation,” Trump reportedly told Putin, according to the source. The Russian president then withdrew the demand.
