Ukraine, Zelensky: “Switzerland, Austria or Turkey for meeting with Putin”

Kyiv, Aug. 21 (LaPresse/AP) – Discussions are underway with Switzerland, Austria, and Turkey as possible venues for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, which would later include U.S. President Donald Trump. Zelensky told journalists about the talks.

“We want to reach an agreement on the structure of security guarantees within seven to ten days. Based on that agreement, we aim to hold a trilateral meeting. That was my logic,” Zelensky said. “President Trump suggested a slightly different approach: a trilateral meeting through a bilateral one,” he explained, “but then we all agreed that, in any case, we will continue working on security guarantees, establishing this rough framework similar to Article 5. And what we have today is political support for this.”

Regarding the frontline, the Ukrainian leader stated that the Russians “continue to transfer part of their troops from the Kursk direction to Zaporizhzhia.”
