Middle East, WHO: ‘Stop attacks on hospitals, cease fire immediately’

Milan, 25 August (LaPresse) – ‘While the population of Gaza is reduced to starvation, its already limited access to healthcare is further compromised by repeated attacks. We cannot repeat this enough: STOP the attacks on medical centres. Cease fire now.’ This was written on X by the Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. "The WHO has received reports of two attacks on the Nasser medical complex this morning, killing at least 20 people, including four health workers and five journalists. Another 50 people were injured, including patients in critical condition who were already receiving treatment,‘ Ghebreyesus wrote. ’The main hospital building, which houses the emergency room, the inpatient ward and the surgical unit, was hit. The attack damaged the emergency staircase," he added.
