Russia-China, Putin: "Strategic relations are a factor of stability for the world"

Moscow, August 30 (LaPresse) – The strategic relations between Russia and China act as a stabilizing force not only in Eurasia but throughout the world. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with the Chinese state news agency Xinhua on the eve of his visit to China, where he will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin and the Chinese Victory Day commemorations in Beijing.
“Cooperation between Russia and China in multilateral contexts is a fundamental aspect of our relations and, naturally, a significant factor in global politics,” Putin said, according to Russian news agencies.
“The Russia-China strategic bond serves as a stabilizing factor,” he added, stressing that “as the two largest powers in Eurasia, we cannot ignore the current challenges and threats, both on our shared continent and worldwide.” Russia and China, exchanging views on key international issues, repeatedly find that they have “a wide range of common interests and similar viewpoints on fundamental matters.”
