Middle East, Moscow: ‘Israel's attack on Doha violates the United Nations Charter’

Turin, Sept. 10 (LaPresse) – Russia "considers" the Israeli attack on Hamas in Doha as "a grave violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of an independent state, a step toward further escalation and destabilization of the situation in the Middle East. Such methods of fighting those whom Israel considers its enemies and opponents deserve the strongest condemnation." The statement was issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"Meanwhile, the missile attack on Qatar—a country that plays a key mediating role in indirect negotiations between Hamas and the Israeli leadership to end the nearly two-year-old war in Gaza and secure the release of detainees—can only be perceived as an action aimed at undermining international efforts to find a peaceful solution," the communiqué continued. "In this regard, Moscow once again calls on all parties involved to show a responsible approach and avoid actions that could lead to the degradation of the situation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and complicate the search for a political solution."
