Washington (USA), Sept. 19 (LaPresse) – The UN must “return to its roots” and resume its role as an “effective tool to promote peace.” This is stated in a note from the U.S. State Department ahead of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s mission to the United Nations from September 22 to 25, for the 80th session of the High-Level Week of the General Assembly. According to the note, Rubio will use the High-Level Week “as an opportunity to discuss the need for the United Nations to return to its origins, refocusing the organization on its original purpose as an effective instrument to promote peace, not as a cumbersome bureaucracy that undermines national sovereignty and promotes destructive ideologies such as DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion).”
