Rome, 25 September (LaPresse) – ‘Israel will not allow ships to enter an active combat zone and will not permit any violation of the legitimate naval blockade.’ This was stated by the Israeli Embassy in Italy to LaPresse, referring to the Global Sumud Flotilla mission. "The Hamas flotilla's rejection of Israel's proposal to transfer any aid to the nearby tourist port of Ashkelon, from where it would be peacefully delivered to Gaza, demonstrates once again that this flotilla is intended to be a provocation and serve Hamas, not deliver humanitarian aid. We reiterate: if their intentions are sincere, they should transfer this aid to the nearby port of Ashkelon, so that it can be promptly transferred to the Gaza Strip in a non-violent manner," the embassy added.
