(LaPresse) – "With regard to the statement by the Budapest court judge on the annulment of the trial against Ms Salis in the event of confirmation of immunity, it should be noted that confirmation of immunity would obviously make it impossible to continue the trial currently underway. The trial would therefore proceed only against the other German co-defendants. Ms Salis's case would be dismissed. However, this does not mean that the Hungarian court will no longer be able to proceed against her.‘ This was clarified in a statement by Eugenio Losco and Mauro Straini, Italian lawyers representing Avs MEP Ilaria Salis. ’Once immunity is no longer applicable,‘ they added, ’the prosecutor's office will be able to issue a new summons to restart the trial."
