Indonesia: death toll from school collapse rises to 37

Rome, 5 October (LaPresse) – The death toll from the collapse of a school in Java, Indonesia, has risen to 37. This was reported by local authorities as rescuers recovered more victims buried under the rubble. β€˜On Sunday morning, the number of people recovered was 141. Of these, 104 were in good condition and 37 were dead,’ said Yudhi Bramantyo, director of operations for the national search and rescue agency, in a statement. Another 26 people are still missing. The causes of the incident are being investigated, but according to experts, initial indications point to the building being constructed with poor-quality materials.
