Gaza, Red Cross: ‘Ready to intensify action and facilitate release of hostages’

Frankfurt (Germany), 7 October (LaPresse) – ‘Saving lives and restoring dignity, offering civilians a moment of respite to begin healing from the wounds of the last two years, must be a priority. The ICRC remains ready to facilitate any release or transfer operation agreed upon by the parties, as it has been doing since October 2023. We are ready to do so again to reunite families or allow for the dignified burial of human remains.’ This was stated to LaPresse by Sarah Davies, spokesperson for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), on the anniversary of 7 October 2023. ‘The ICRC,’ she added, ‘is also ready to intensify its humanitarian activities in the Gaza Strip as soon as the conditions agreed between the parties allow it.’
