Washington (USA), 6 November (LaPresse) – A federal appeals court has given new life to President Donald Trump's attempt to have his conviction in the New York trial for paying porn star Stormy Daniels out of pocket overturned. The court ordered a lower court to reconsider its decision to keep the case in state court instead of transferring it to federal court. Trump was convicted in May 2024 on 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal a payment made to Daniels in 2016 in exchange for her silence about their past relationship. The president's lawyers had asked to transfer the New York case to a federal court, where they could seek to have it dismissed on grounds of presidential immunity.
