Milan, 8 Nov. (LaPresse) – Moscow has not yet received clarification from Washington through diplomatic channels regarding US President Donald Trump's statements on the resumption of nuclear tests. This is what Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, according to the Russian news agency Tass. ‘No, we have not yet received any explanation through diplomatic channels about what President Donald Trump meant when he announced the resumption of nuclear testing,’ Lavrov said in response to a question on the matter. "It is unclear whether the discussion concerned tests on nuclear weapon delivery systems, the conduct of so-called subcritical tests (i.e. tests that do not produce a nuclear reaction, which are carried out by all nuclear states to maintain the safety and operational readiness of their nuclear arsenals, do not contradict the voluntary commitments of those states and do not violate the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, which has not yet entered into force). Or whether Donald Trump was actually talking about Washington's intention to resume large-scale nuclear testing," Lavrov said, according to Tass.
